Memorial website in the memory of your loved one
This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Viveca Watkins who was born in Bahamas on May 09, 1951 and passed away on April 09, 2007 at the age of 55. We will remember her forever.

Viveca was the second of nine children born to Errington and Pearl Watkins and the eldest girl.

She received her early education at Our Lady's and St. Joseph's Catholic Schools and then she went on to Kingston Jamaica where she received her secondary education at Alpha Academy.

Upon completion of high school, Viveca returned to Nassau where she successfully completed a secretarial course at The Nassau Technical College.  The youngest student - she graduated second out of 42 students in her class, at the tender age of 16.

Her vibrant personality made her a natural to be a part of the Ministry of Tourism's "People To People" programme and she was active in the programme to the end.

Viveca lived to entertain and make people laugh.  She always thought that the worst thing anyone could do was to take themselves too seriously.

Viveca was bitten by the acting bug in 1975 and she never looked back.

A multi talented actor, comedienne, director, radio and t.v. personality, Viveca was well known and loved by many.  Even those who did not know her by name often stopped her and asked her "hen' you is the Carnation lady?"

Her exuberance for life and her love of all things connected with the arts were only surpassed by her love for her family.  She fussed, argued, corrected, loved and shared with the same passion with which she approached all things in life.

Viveca was a perfectionist and pushed everyone around her to be the same.  In plays, skits, commercials, shows, anything she undertook, she would learn everyone's lines and did not hesitate to let you know when you missed one.

She loved her country and took great pride in being a Bahamian and being able to represent the Bahamas internationally.

Viveca died as she lived - with a smile on  her face.  Her wishes are that we celebrate her life rather than mourn her passing, and although we are hurting - we are warmed by the joy and laughter she brought to all.

Viveca, take your rest. You have left a legacy behind and we will forever cherish your memories.

In the words of Elton John:  "Your candle's burned out long before your legend ever will".

We Love You.

Her legacy
The Legacy of Viveca Nadine Watkins
Loving mother to Graham and Rosa, doting Grand-Mother to Teagan , precious daughter to Errington and Pearl, and sister, mentor and friend to Montague, Madrona, Vanessa, Poncietta, Errington Jr., Zinnia, Italia, Erica, Tony, Dianne, Karen, Jimmy, Janice, Nicky, Dynastasia, Ellsworth, Ramona, Anishka, and many more.

A card carrying C.C.P. Viveca loved her extended family at the Dundas, and particularly James Catalyn and Friends with the same zest and passion that she shared with her immediate family.

Her demanding, playful, giving and loving spirit made her a friend to many, even those whose feathers she would often ruffle.  It was hard to stay vex with her - because she simply "said what she meant - and meant what she said" and then she would move on and love you with all she had.

Her devotion to the arts made her a well known and well loved public figure.
